Safer and Faster X-rays
With our new state-of-the-art Computed Dental Radiography or CDR you can get the necessary care without unnecessary radiation. X-rays play an invaluable role in the diagnosis of dental problems. We need to have a complete set of X-rays to completely diagnose a guest's needed care but many people are concerned about exposure to x-ray radiation. CDR eliminates these worries because it requires 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays. So a complete set of X-Rays (18 films) has the radiation of only 2-3 conventional films.
It is as accurate as conventional x-rays and even reveals things film can't. The CDR image can be magnified 300 times its normal size to enhance diagnosis, manipulated to correct contrast, and color-adjusted to reveal hidden problems. We can measure things more accurately and back-light teeth to see things that never could be seen with conventional film.
CDR images are instantaneous. Once the sensor is exposed to X-rays the image is sent directly to the computer monitor. The image is seen in a matter of seconds. Dr. Widen can be in a different room viewing the X-rays as they are taken, to free up more time to discuss the treatment options with you. No time is wasted processing and mounting x-ray film. So our staff spends less time in the dark room and more time with you, discussing the health of your teeth.
The Schick CDR system uses no film or chemicals, so we don't have to worry about disposing of hazardous processing waste or smelling the developer and fixer solutions anymore! That's good news for the you and the environment.
Additionally, CDR x-rays are covered under your basic x-ray benefits, so there's no reduction in your insurance benefits.
So please allow us to take the necessary X-rays to get the whole picture and make an accurate diagnosis.
Laser Cavity Detection
Click the picture above for flash animation!
Our office uses the lastest equipment for detecting even the smallest amount of decay. Because of fluoride the enamel of our teeth is stronger and sometimes hides the fact that there is decay underneath. Through microcracks, bacteria and food start the decay process undetectable to clincal examination and x-rays, until it get much larger. With this new device we can detect a small amount of decay and place a smaller filling, conserving vital tooth structure.

J-5 Myomonitor
J-5 Myomonitor is a muscle stimulating device to help relax muscles of the jaw and neck simultaneously using transcutaneous electrical muscle stimulation. It is a battery powered device that the guest controls and it is used to treat the following:
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and associated pain
To relieve symptoms associated with muscle spasm
To relax muscles and establish a physiologic biting position
To take bite registrations and impressions for dentures
To increase blood circulation
To maintain or increase mandibular range of motion
This gives us accurate reproducible physiologic rest position or the position in which measurements of muscle activity is calmest. The ultimate goal is relaxed muscles and relaxed muscles are free from tension and pain and will function properly when chewing and speaking and smiling. Tense muscles can cause head, neck and back pain and this new technology may help relieve some of these symptoms. An orthotic or splint is constructed to fit over the teeth to help the muscles relax at the position as determined by the J5.
K-7 Computerized
Jaw Tracking and Surface Electromyography
We have invested in technology that will precisely and quantitatively measure the activity in your jaw and neck muscles. We have found that calm muscles are "happy" muscles and are free from pain. We can determine by watching the muscle activity the most comfortable position for your jaw. We can track your jaw to that position and capture that physiologic rest position. This will allow us to make an orthotic in that position to allow your muscles to relax and heal. Which allows you to be comfortable with your new jaw position.
